Karisma Kapoor’s 15-year-old daughter, Samaira, is walking in her mother’s footsteps. Samaira being a star kid, managed to stay away from the limelight and was recently seen in a short film titled, Daud. Daud is a short film written and directed by Chunky Pandey’s younger daughter Rysa Pandey, who happens to be Ananya Pandey’s sister.
Daud is a story that has been fabricated around a young girl from the slums of Mumbai. While the city of Mumbai is known for its limelight, there is the other side to it, and this story comes from that side. The young girl makes a living by selling pencils, but she dreams of going beyond her circumstances and fulfills her dreams. The young girl becomes a professional athlete, but her present situations won’t allow her to follow her dreams. This seven-and-a-half-minute film also stars Sanjay Kapoor’s younger son, Jahan Kapoor, along with Dhaniti Parekh, who helps the young girl to buy her shoes and follow her dreams.
Before Daud, Samaira has also been part of another film also she donned the director’s hat while acting in the short film, be happy when she was just 10. This short film happened to be screened in 2015 at the International Children’s Festival of India in the category of ‘Little Director’s Category.’
Now coming back to Daud, according to the reports, Chunky Panday has produced Rysa’s debut short film, and her cousin Ahaan Pandey also helped with the directorial team.
Not only the daughter but mother Karisma is also seen returning to the big screen. Recently she made her digital debut with Alt Balaji web series Mentalhood. The show follows Karisma playing the role of a former beauty pageant winner. It happens to be the mother of three school-going children. Along with Karisma, the web series also stars Dino Morea, Sandhya Mridul, Shruti Seth, Sanjay Suri, Tillotama Shome, and Shilpa Shukla. Mentalhood revolves around the modern age parenting and its struggles.
At a trailer launch of the show, Karisma said that she could not say no to the producer Ekta Kapoor when she approached for the role, as she felt really connected to the script. She said, ‘Being a mother has been the most important thing for me. Like I have always said, all my awards are on one side, and my children are on the other’. She believes that the entire career is on one side and her kids on the other. Most importantly, she doesn’t want to mix both things.
